Fortnite Crosshair FAQ
How do I get a custom crosshair in Fortnite?
Fortnite has no built-in custom crosshair setting, so you use an overlay: a transparent image drawn on top of the game window. Build one in the generator here, export it as a PNG, and display it with an overlay app. The game itself is never modified.
Are crosshair overlays allowed in Fortnite?
They are a static image drawn over the window — they do not read, inject into or modify the game, and Epic has not acted against them. Pros and streamers use them openly. Anything that reads game state instead of just drawing on top is a different matter and is not allowed.
Do Fortnite crosshair overlays work on console?
No. Overlays need software running alongside the game on a PC or Mac, which consoles do not allow. On console you are limited to the in-game reticle.
Why is my crosshair overlay not showing over Fortnite?
Almost always the display mode. Overlays cannot draw over exclusive fullscreen — set Fortnite to Windowed Fullscreen (borderless) in Video settings and the overlay will appear.
Does a crosshair overlay cause input lag or FPS loss?
A static image overlay costs almost nothing. Browser-based overlays are heavier because they run a full renderer alongside the game, so a lightweight image overlay is the better choice on a tight frame budget.
What is the best Fortnite crosshair?
Small and high-contrast. Fortnite fights involve constant building and editing, so a large reticle hides the very structures you are shooting through. Green and cyan read well against both grass and builds; white disappears against walls.
